Painting // Wood panel // Frangipani

Creating a wood panel painting with gold paint that looked a bit like a 15th-century painting.

Why I chose to use mixed materials

I was looking for a way to create a wood panel painting that looked a bit like a 15th-century painting. I used gold acrylic paint mixed with Creall pearl mix to imitate the gold leaf gilding. Posterpaint because it is easy to give a panel painted with posterpaint an old vintage, distressed look by sanding it. And oil paint for the finishing touch.

Used materials

  • Talens Amsterdam acrylic paint 802 Gold Light;
  • Talens School colour (poster paint) White;
  • Talens School colour (poster paint) Deep Blue 502;
  • Creall Dacta colour poster paint 10 Primary Blue;
  • Creall pearl mix (pearly medium);
  • Talens Amsterdam acrylic picture varnish 115 mat;
  • Talens Amsterdam oil colour 508 Prussian Blue;
  • Daler-Rowney acryl colour Gold (imit) 701;
  • Van Gogh oil colour Azo Yellow Lemon 267.
